AMAGANSETT BEACH HOUSE | EASTERN LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK
Adjacent to a nature reserve and nestled beyond the dunes, this Amagansett retreat is the home of David Netto and his family. Its laid back and casual vibe is a true expression of how the family chooses to live on the beach. Surfboards are strewn below the raised deck, while shells, diftwood, and books can be found at every turn. This ocean front property was completely gutted down to the studs, and rebuilt to the exisiting footprint. Elevated on stilts, we maximized the views by reconfiguring the elevations with new windows and doors, and lined the updated shell with whitewashed Douglas fir. New millwork anchors the hexagonal plan and provide much needed space for the family’s extensive library while a simple yet functional kitchen is dressed with soapstone.
